Este es un proyecto que empezamos a desarrollar en 2021 con la Fundación Natura. En el marco del proyecto Huella Viva donde acompañamos a seis familias campesinas de los corregimientos Las mercerdes en Puerto triunfo, La danta en Sonsón y Aquitania en San Francisco, ubicados todos en el oriente antioqueño.
Con este proyecto logramos que las familias participantes aprendan sobre apicultura y conservación de bosques con abejas. Instalamos colmenas en cada uno de los predios y les entregamos trajes y demás herramientas necesarias para desarrollar la actividad. El proceso de aprendizaje empezó con los conocimientos más básicos hasta la primera cosecha, realizamos visitas mensuales durante un año, donde buscábamos abordar cada uno de los momentos que se pueden presentar con el trabajo de abejas: montaje del apiario, temporada de lluvias, alimentación de las abejas, manejo de plagas, multiplicación de las colmenas, enjambrazón y cosecha.
Con este acompañamiento buscamos que las familias aprendan una nueva labor productiva para sus predios, que obtengan ingresos adicionales además que contribuyan a conservar más hectáreas de bosque y que al mismo tiempo ayuden a su autonomía económica.
